In January 2016, Gerald H. Werfel joined Baker, Cronogue, Tolle & Werfel, LLP as an equity partner.  Mr. Werfel’s long government experience was almost entirely focused on procurement law issues, ranging from bid protests to debarment and suspension. Since entering private practice in 1989, Mr. Werfel has concentrated on government contracting matters, providing a full range of advisory services in all aspects of this complex area as well as representing clients, large and small in disputes with the government over contracts. He has helped government contractors establish internal controls and systems to avoid problems, has conducted numerous internal investigations for clients to determine the facts of specific problems or alleged wrongdoing. He has been involved in hundreds of disputes with the government over business qualifications for size and other set-aside contracts. He has helped clients survive government investigations and audits. His specific experience in suspensions and debarments while in government has enabled him to help government contractors avoid the worst possible outcomes of these potentially terminal problems. First admitted to the Bar in 1975, Mr. Werfel is admitted to the Bars of Virginia and the District of Columbia. He is the co-author of the Lawyer’s Desk Book on White Collar Crime, National Legal Center for the Public Interest 1991 and other publications.
